Last year I attended #Podstock14 and I got the amazing chance to hear Todd Nesloney aka @TechNinjaTodd speak about how he created unique learning experiences and his flipped classroom. I tweeted and retweeted out the words that spoke to me.
"Students remember experiences, not worksheets"
"Give students a chance to blow your mind.... And they will"
"Adults need to learn how to have fun so kids will WANT to grow up."
These are just a few of the things that he shared and I was really inspired. And to be honest, a little overwhelmed. You see, I was just starting my first job as a technology coach. New job, new district, newly created position... Lots of ideas swirling around in my head.
Fast forward to this past month...
1) I got the chance to experience BreakoutEDU at my nerds group at ESSDACK and I loved it. What a great learning experience! I can't wait until I get my kit - I have a couple of teachers ready to try it with their kids the minute it gets here. I already have my husband on board to build another box or 2.
AND
2) I came across this video by on the TeachingChannel.org by Taylor Mali. In My Middle School This video is so worth the time to watch. It really gives you insight into how a classroom could look.
So now my mind is racing. I am putting what I learned this month together with what I heard at Podstock.
Now to get to work - How can I use BreakoutEDU with the ideas in Taylor Mali's video together to help teachers transform their classrooms? I am so excited to get this started!
How do you think you could use BreakoutEDU to transform your classroom and make learning more fun?
